Conservation Captains are officially endorsed and promoted by Bonefish & Tarpon Trust as qualified fishing guides who are also committed to conservation of the flats fishery.
To be enrolled in Bonefish & Tarpon Trust’s Conservation Captains Program and listed on the BTT website, you must meet the following requirements:
Be a licensed charter captain who is a good steward of the flats fishery and follows ethical fishing practices and best handling practices.
Obtain 1 or more referrals from a current BTT member or staff member; or from a BTT Board or Advisory Council member; or from a current BTT Conservation Captain.
Complete at least one of the following on an annual basis:
Participate in an ongoing BTT research program (tagging, genetics sampling, field research, etc.)
Donate a trip for a BTT fundraiser auction or research
