“They have built the finest bonefish lodge in the Bahamas right where it should be — smack dab in the middle of some of the Bahamas’ most historically important bonefish and permit flats.” – Ross Purnell – Editor, Fly Fisherman Magazine.

Deep Water Cay

The Bahamas’ most legendary fishing resort.

Two fishing legends, Palm Beach guide Gil Drake Sr. and Field & Stream editor A.J. McClane, were on a quest for the perfect bonefishing spot. In 1958, the two found themselves on a tiny strip of paradise off the East End of Grand Bahama Island, surrounded by 250 square miles of pristine sand flats. Here they established Deep Water Cay, the now legendary Bahamas fishing resort, which has hosted many of the world’s most famous anglers over the years.

Now you can experience this saltwater paradise at its finest.

Recent record-setting catches, including a 15.44-pound bonefish and a 45-pound permit, bear witness to the Cay’s meticulous conservation efforts. Reef and offshore trips target grouper, snapper, mahi, wahoo, and tuna that provide fresh entrées nightly at the Lodge. Deep Water continues to emphasize a tradition of hospitality and outdoor adventure. Recent multimillion-dollar upgrades have also instilled in the property a new sense of relaxed elegance. The generations of guides are still superb, the staff is incredibly friendly, and if you want the ultimate large bonefish and permit experience, this is it.

It’s your turn to join the legends and possibly even catch a new Lodge record. On this BTT Trip of a Lifetime to Deep Water Cay, you and your companion will have access to more than 250 square miles of flats in custom Hell’s Bay skiffs and the chance to wade hard-packed white sand flats. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to spot the bones. In this angler’s nirvana it’s possible to catch 26+ inch bonefish as well as the wily permit, mutton snapper and barracuda. Catching 10 lb+ bonefish is far more common than you would expect, and you and your guide will enjoy the quest. You can also choose to reef fish, snorkel, take beach excursions, kayak the mangroves, paddleboard, and enjoy other outdoor activities. With exquisitely beautiful surroundings and turquoise in every direction, you can do nothing and be satisfied here. Relax by the infinity pool, walk right out onto the flats, or grab a mask and snorkel off the docks. You and your guest will have five nights and four whole days of fun, sport, and secluded relaxation in this little island paradise.

Enjoy gracious Bahamian hospitality in cottages right on the beach. Unwind after a full day of fishing at A.J.’s Tiki Bar as you return to the floating docks. Take in a Bahamian sunset, refresh for drinks and appetizers in the Barracuda Bar and Grill overlooking the infinity pool, and wind down with an unforgettable dinner at the Lodge – a mix of Bahamian, West Indian, and Continental cuisines.

Then take the short walk to your cottage and wake to warm waves lapping on the shores just a few feet from your front door.

Deep Water Cay is a small private island 2.2 miles long. Quiet and serene, transportation is by foot, bicycle, and golf cart only.

You can hop over on a commercial flight or fly directly to the private airstrip and clear Bahamian Customs on the Cay.

Many major airline hubs in the U.S. offer direct commercial flights to Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport. If you fly commercially, after touchdown in Freeport, kick back and let us handle the rest: we’ll arrange for a driver to take you to McLean’s Town where our team will be waiting to pilot you by private water taxi to Deep Water Cay, only minutes away.

Included: Five nights and four days guided fishing, snorkeling, water excursions, and/or relaxing for two people, shared double one-bedroom well-appointed cottage, and all meals.

Not included: Airport transfers, transportation related fees, 7.5% Bahamian VAT and 12% resort services fee on retail value of room and meals, alcoholic beverages, guide gratuities (suggested at $80.00 per boat/day) and Customs/Immigration fees if flying directly to the Cay.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving: Bring along more friends and we will donate 20% of that retail price back to Bonefish & Tarpon Trust.

When: Based on availability, January 2018 – February 2018 and November 2018 – December 20, 2018. Excluding major US holidays. The lodge is closed seasonally July – September. Certificate expires on December 20, 2018 and the lodge regrets but date extensions are not available, no exceptions.
