Dr. Dowd joins the staff of BTT’s Florida Keys Initiative as a Postdoctoral Associate. She received her Ph.D. in Ecology from the Institute of Marine Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and earned the B.A. with honors in Molecular Environmental Biology from the University of California-Berkeley. During her academic career, Dowd served as an NSFREU Summer Student Fellow at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, a Research Technician at the University of North Carolina Institute of Marine Sciences, and a Coral Reef Ecological Processes Intern at Mote Marine Laboratory. Over the next two years, her work will focus on shark depredation and mitigation tactics.
