Performance Eyewear Brand and Fisheries Conservation Organization Launch Fundraising Collaboration to Protect and Restore Critical Marine Habitats

Bonefish & Tarpon Trust and Bajío Sunglasses have teamed up for Bajío’s Temples of Change program benefiting marine conservation. A leading independent sunglasses manufacturer, Bajío is a brand motivated by a profound connection to the water and a drive to inspire positive change.

Temples of Change donates $20 from every pair of limited-edition Bajío Vega and Rigolets frames sold to support BTT’s mission to conserve bonefish, tarpon, and permit–the species, their habitats, and the larger fisheries they comprise. The frames feature unique, eye-catching bonefish, tarpon, and permit artwork by acclaimed artist Casey Anderson and are designed to help anglers see through the glare on the flats and make their casts count. The collection will launch at BTT’s highly anticipated 8th International Science Symposium November 7-8 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“We’re excited to use our Temples of Change program to support BTT and shine a light on the amazing work they’re doing to protect the places and the species we love,” said Al Perkinson, Founder and CEO of Bajío. “We fully support BTT’s approach of bringing science to the fight and providing much-needed data for advocacy efforts.”

Spanish for “the shallows,” Bajío strives to improve the quality of life for the world’s saltwater flats, the ecosystems they support, and the communities that depend on them. Bajío manufactures its glasses with sustainability at the forefront, using plant-based materials in its frames and high-quality glass lenses built to filter out the bad and enhance the good.

From eco-friendly design and materials to recycled packaging, every business decision Bajío makes supports its mission to protect the world’s saltwater flats. The company is committed to creating and continuously improving its products to meet the highest performance standards while using the most sustainable resources and best practices available. Using proprietary techniques, Bajío lenses improve clarity, reduce blur, glare and haze while enhancing color and protecting your eyes from harmful rays.

“Conservation is an essential part of the Bajío brand, and we are proud to partner on this creative initiative,” said Jim McDuffie, BTT President and CEO. “Through Temples of Change, Bajío is helping to protect the flats ecosystems that sustain our fisheries, our communities, and the incredible experiences we share on the water.”

Proceeds from BTT’s Temples of Change will directly benefit BTT’s programs in Florida, The Bahamas, Belize, and Mexico, premier angling destinations where BTT is working to conserve and restore vital flats habitats, leading innovative research projects, and inspiring the next generation of conservation-minded anglers through educational outreach programs.
