Digital Media Manager

The Digital Media Manager, a new full-time position at Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, will lead our national and international social media channel strategies to support our mission and organizational goals. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, and working closely with other staff in Membership and Events, the Digital Media Manager will lead our digital efforts to drive engagement in BTT’s mission and advance our marketing, communications, development, advocacy, and conservation goals. The successful candidate will be a creative self-starter with a deep knowledge of social media channels and strategy, excellent copywriting skills and messaging judgment, and a passion for connecting audiences with BTT’s conservation mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that advances BTT’s broader organizational goals
  • Produce and aggregate compelling digital content for multiple social channels to promote BTT’s messaging priorities, foster and grow our member and supporter base, and drive engagement with domestic and international audiences
  • Manage BTT’s social media accounts; grow BTT’s audiences on existing channels and build audiences on new channels
  • Develop and manage BTT’s paid social ads and campaigns
  • Use digital analytics to measure the effectiveness of strategies and adapt accordingly to amplify impact; provide regular reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications
  • Write social media posts and select and source appropriate supporting imagery and video content as needed
  • Post time-sensitive information and calls-to-action on BTT’s social media channels on short notice
  • Stay abreast of the fast-moving digital and social media trends, and innovate as platforms and algorithms evolve; act as in-house expert on social media
  • Ensure a compelling, on-brand, and inclusive voice across BTT’s social media channels
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications and consultants to coordinate strategy and tactics in the United States, the Bahamas, Belize, Mexico, and other locations
  • Work closely with BTT’s Events staff to promote events
  • Collaborate with corporate sponsors and industry professionals to develop cobranded posts and campaigns
  • Monitor social media comments and direct messages and respond; comment to and reshare select posts/tweets as needed
  • Plan content with BTT’s Membership staff to support new member acquisition
  • Work closely with BTT’s Membership staff to promote the BTT Online Store

Requirements

  • Motivated, self-directed, and resourceful
  • Bachelor’s degree required and three years of experience in digital communications, marketing, or a related field
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills; ability to reach audiences with an engaging communications style; impeccable spelling and grammar
  • Deep knowledge of current and emerging social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Vimeo, YouTube; experience using platform analytics to guide efforts
  • Experience using a CRM system to track data, and using metrics to maximize effectiveness of digital strategies
  • Experience with Facebook Business Manager for social media advertising
  • Understanding of SEO strategies and writing techniques
  • Basic graphic design and video skills a plus; ability to work within a set of brand guidelines
  • Messaging savvy and judgment; ability to message inclusively and tailor communications in a way that resonates across political, demographic and geographic boundaries; ability to effectively respond to comments and direct messages on social channels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Ability to multitask across multiple campaigns and projects
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced setting with deadlines
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • A working knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, saltwater fisheries conservation, policy, and science, and flats fishing
  • Knowledge of fishing and outdoor industries is a plus
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with remote colleagues and dispersed teams

  • Demonstrated ability in using discretion where appropriate and maintaining confidentiality in all matters

Salary is competitive among non-profit organizations and commensurate with experience. Benefits include health and retirement plans; paid leave for vacation, sickness and Federal Holidays.
