Our Organization

Bonefish & Tarpon Trust is a science-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to conserve and restore bonefish, tarpon, and permit fisheries and habitats through research, conservation, education and advocacy.

Position Description

This is a paid, 30-40 hour-per-week internship. The Marketing & Communications Intern reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.

The Marketing & Communications Intern works closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications on a variety of tasks, including producing the bi-annual Bonefish & Tarpon Journaland monthly e-newsletter, managing BTT’s social media accounts, creating blog posts and press releases, producing the annual BTT calendar, and managing the BTT Youth Ambassador Program and Conservation Captains Program. 

The Marketing & Communications Intern will also provide administrative support to the Membership & Marketing Manager, who reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications. In this role, the Marketing & Communications Intern assists the Membership & Marketing Manager with mailings, data entry, membership fulfillment, working at fishing industry shows, and keeping stock of BTT store items and membership benefits. 

On a seasonal basis, the Marketing & Communications Intern also provides administrative support the BTT Events Coordinator.

This position is based in Coral Gables, Florida.

Qualifications

Requirements for the Marketing & Communications Intern include:

Bachelor’s Degree 
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong writing background (two writing samples required)
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other CRM software a plus
Ability to thrive in a small office environment and work in a collaborative role with others
Ability to travel on an occasional basis
Demonstrated ability in using discretion where appropriate and maintaining confidentiality in all matters, especially pertaining to donors and their records
Knowledge of recreational fisheries and conservation a plus
