Carl Navarre Joins Bonefish & Tarpon Trust Board of Directors

Carl Navarre, the former Publisher and CEO of Atlantic Monthly Press, has joined the board of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, a non-profit science-based organization dedicated to conserving and restoring bonefish, tarpon and permit fisheries and habitats through research, stewardship, education and advocacy.

“Over the years I’ve watched BTT grow into the well-managed, science-based, fisheries conservation group that it is today. And I’m excited to join this board and I’m especially excited to be involved with the Bonefish Restoration Program,” said Navarre. “I’ve been involved with successful species restoration for a long time— especially with birds of prey at The Peregrine Fund— and I think this project, and the science and technology that will come out of it, are key insurance policies to guarantee healthy populations of bonefish and tarpon in the future.”

A resident of Islamorada, Navarre also founded and served as CEO of MyPublisher.com, a software and services platform for digital photography that was sold to Shutterfly. A leader in conservation, he has served as a board member and director of The Wildlife Conservation Society, The National Audubon Society, The Atlantic Salmon Federation, The Peregrine Fund (past Chairman), and The Guides Trust Foundation (past Chairman).

“Carl is a dedicated conservationist who has shared his impressive talent and experience with many of our country’s leading non-profit organizations,” said BTT President Jim McDuffie. “We are fortunate to have him working now on behalf of flats conservation. Already under his leadership, we’ve been able to advance the Bonefish Restoration Research Project—the largest bonefish reproduction and restoration project ever undertaken.”
