The Florida Senate has done its job and passed SB 10, which calls for the construction of a much-needed reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee to curb harmful discharges to the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee rivers. The proposed reservoir would store approximately 78 billion gallons of water that would be conveyed south to the Everglades and Florida Bay via the River of Grass. Now it's time for the House of Representatives to follow the Senate's lead and pass HB 761--the companion bill to SB 10. The passage of HB 761 is critical to Everglades restoration efforts.
